Veteran's Day Weekend

Oof! It has been a fantastic four day weekend! I hope that all of you found a way to thank our Veterans for all of their sacrifices!

We spent the weekend as a family, for the most part. Thursday, we took VaughnEmery to Target to do a bit of spoiling. She got some new shoes, slippers, spoons, jammies, dresses, leggings, coats, and the most obnoxious toys in the world. She had a very nice day! After, we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse but it was cut short because one of my teeth started to hurt pretty badly and I decided to take myself to the ER on base to get some antibiotics. I know that it needs a root canal, but I am in the process of getting an implant done for another tooth and had decided that it took precedence. Friday was a girls' night out. While it was a decent night spent at loud bars, I decided that I have entirely grown out of that phase. All I wanted was to be back at home with my husband and daughter. Saturday, we did some more shopping, only this time it was to look for a new ring for me. The one that I have doesn't fit yet and I would like something to wear in the meantime. I wanted a simple band. Just a band; plain as can be. Nathan has other ideas on a new ring so we ended up just browsing. Then, we went to Harris Teeter and bought all of our Thanksgiving groceries that will be needed! I am so excited! I just wasn't excited in how much that we spent there. :/  We found THE BEST apples ever! They're called Honeycrisp apples. Oh goodness! They're our new favorites. We came home and started watching The Pacific and then went to bed. Today has been equally quiet. Woke up and made smoothies and eggo sandwiches! Eggos with Nutella and banana slices, YUM! Finished watching The Pacific and then started Band of Brothers. I highly recommend both series! Now, Nathan is studying and I am trying to keep up with VE.

Exciting, eh? Hahaha Below are some silly pictures from this weekend-

Nathan and VE were having quite a bit of fun!

Headband :)

Woo! I finished my first ever headband! I'm sending it to a friend of mine in Nevada. I really hope that she likes it!

Also, I bought some yarn and crochet needles the other day and have taught myself to crochet. Nothing too fancy yet, but I'm excited! I'm such an old lady.

Resume.

Making a resume just reminded me that I need a degree and a real job hahaha

I only laugh to keep from crying.

Craft-Pen Pals

Last week, a few friends and I decided to be craft-pen pals. Meaning, that we'll make small drawing, paintings, knits... anything fun. By no means am I an artist. I make messes and I have fun making them and I firmly believe that it shows that I have no clue what I'm doing. I made my first "craft" and I wish that I had taken a picture of it before I sent it off this morning. I glued a million small gems onto a new container of floss... it's now "flossy" floss. Get it? Hahahahahaha I really do crack myself up. Last night, I took out one of my canvases and cut out the canvas. I then poured a bunch of different paint on one side of the canvas and just smooshed the paint and once its dry I'm going to use that for another project. Anyway, I kept the wood from the canvas and painted it a pinkish-white and plan to make a very cool picture frame.

Any suggestions for small/neat /silly gifts to make and send to people?

Also, I started a very cute quilt...  This should only take roughly a decade to finish.

Uh oh...

My daughters biggest accomplishment to date has come.

Nathan was napping in the back room, as per usual (He wakes up around 4:45 for work, so I guess I can't blame him). So, I took Ve out to the living room to play. I set her down on the floor to see which toy that she would reach for or scoot to and we could start playing. I like to do that, watching her decide is too cute. As she sat there on the carpet perched on all fours, she started to gaze at the hallway. Then it was almost as if there were an audible "AHA!" and a snap of the fingers. She lifted her chin and with every intent she started off down the hall. Crawling. Like a big girl. Not scooting or pulling herself. CRAWLING.

She has yet to stop. She just looks so proud of herself too. Hahaha

My first real scare.

NEVER in my life have I been so scared. Last night, Nathan was taking a nap in the bedroom while Ve and I were in the livingroom. I was watching Gossip Girl and Ve was directly in front of me playing on the floor with one of her toys... or so I thought. Turns out, she was playing with a small piece of plastic or cellophane or some kind of crunchy plastic. Sure enough as all things that Ve picks up, it went into her mouth and then down her throat- where it stayed. Even though I have taken infant CPR classes, I completely panicked. I couldn't remember anything except that Nathan is a medic. I picked her up and ran down the hall where Nathan was sleeping. I swung the door open and shouted "She's choking"! Nathan was up out of bed and grabbed her out of my arms faster than you could have blinked. He quickly turned her face down in his hand and worked her back until she spewed (which seemed like an eternity but was only milliseconds). And I mean spewed. She has just eaten green vegetables and drank a bottle. It looked like something out of The Exorcist. As soon as she had finished choking and puking, she just looked up and started laughing... like it was fun. Goodness, do my child and I have different views of fun! As soon as she started laughing, I started sobbing.

I am SO lucky to have Nathan and Ve.

Ah, childhood.

My mommy sent off all of her Disney VHS tapes to me. I cannot wait to get them! I've been browsing Craigslist for those VHS/TVs, you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find only a VHS these days! Hahaha I'm so thrilled to start VaughnEmery on her Disney journey! To think, she'll be enjoying the VERY SAME tapes that I did when I was little. It makes me a tad bit choked up. I wonder if she'll like The Little Mermaid like me or be a fan of Sleeping Beauty like Nathan?
